A blue LED courtesy light for steps, cockpits, and cabins
A courtesy light shows you where things are. At 5 lumens, this light gives you a clear marker on a step riser, toe kick, or gunwale without glare in your eyes or reflections on the windshield.
Blue is a popular pick for boats because it reads well at night and looks clean against white gelcoat. It also keeps the cockpit low-key when you're running after sunset.
The oval shape and stainless trim match a lot of factory hardware, so it fits right in on a refit or a new build.
Where to use it
- Companionway and cockpit steps
- Toe kicks under helm seats and cockpit benches
- Gunwale and coaming edges
- Cabin walkways, berths, and head entries
- Swim platform steps and boarding areas

What is a courtesy light on a boat? A courtesy light is a small, low-output light that marks steps, walkways, and edges so people can move around safely at night. Output is kept low on purpose to guide your feet with minimal glare.
Can I mount this courtesy light outside? Yes. It's rated IP67, so it's sealed against dust and can handle temporary immersion. Spray, rain, and washdowns won't hurt it. The polished 304 stainless trim is made for salt air.
How much power does it use? It draws 0.03 amps at 12V, about 0.4 watts. Ten of them together pull roughly 0.3 amps, so you can leave a full set on overnight at anchor with very little battery drain.
Will it work on a 24V boat? Scandvik rates this model for 12V. For a 24V system, use a 24V to 12V converter on the lighting circuit or choose a light rated for 10-30V.
Why choose blue for courtesy lighting? Blue light at low output is easy to see in the dark without much glare or windshield reflection. It also looks clean on white gelcoat, which is why it's a common pick for cockpit steps and toe kicks.
