Are DRSA Dock Piling Light Caps waterproof?

Yes. DRSA Dock Piling Light Caps are designed for marine environments and built to withstand outdoor exposure. However, all wiring connections should be properly sealed with marine-grade connectors and kept above the waterline for maximum protection and long-term reliability.

Can I install dock piling lights myself?

Yes. Most homeowners and dock owners can install DRSA piling light caps using basic tools. The process includes positioning the cap, connecting the wiring, securing the cap with stainless steel screws, and testing the system before final installation.

What voltage do DRSA dock piling lights use?

DRSA piling light caps operate on a 12V DC marine lighting system. An LED driver or power supply is required to convert AC power to 12V DC for safe operation.

What is the difference between Warm White and RGBW models?

Warm White models provide a consistent 3000K warm lighting effect ideal for elegant dock illumination. RGBW models allow color-changing functionality and include a remote control for adjusting colors and lighting effects.

Why is my dock piling light not turning on after installation?

For single-color warm white models, polarity may sometimes be reversed. If the light does not illuminate after connection, simply swap the red and black wires and test again.

Where should the power supply be installed?

The power supply should always be installed above the waterline in a weatherproof enclosure. DRSA recommends mounting it under the dock or inside the piling area while keeping it accessible for future servicing.

What type of wire should I use for dock lighting?

DRSA recommends using tinned stranded marine-grade wire for all dock lighting installations because it provides better corrosion resistance and long-term durability in marine environments.

How many dock lights do I need per foot?

Plan on one fixture every 8 to 12 feet of dock length. A 100-foot straight dock typically needs 9 to 13 caps depending on piling spacing. Use the Dock Lighting Calculator to get an exact count for your layout.

What size power supply do I need for 10 piling cap lights?

Ten single color piling caps draw roughly 30 to 50 watts total depending on the model. Apply the 80% rule and you need at least a 60W driver. For RGBW, the same ten caps may need a 100W driver. The calculator gives you the exact size based on your selection.

How long do LED dock lights last?

DRSA piling caps are rated for 50,000+ hours of LED life and carry a 3-year prorated warranty. In real-world South Florida marine conditions, expect 10+ years of service before any fixtures need replacement.
