Measure each piling individually. For best fit, select a light cap 1.5" to 2" larger than your piling diameter.

How to Measure Wooden Pilings
Most Accurate Method: String Measurement
- Wrap a string snugly around the piling's full circumference
- Measure the string length in inches
- Divide by π (3.1416) to calculate the diameter
- Round up to the next half inch for your cap size
Example: 25" string ÷ 3.1416 = 7.96" → Order an 8" piling cap
Alternate Method: Direct Measurement
- Measure across the piling north/south
- Measure again east/west
- Average the two numbers
- Round up to the nearest half inch
Example: 8.3" × 8.1" → Order an 8.5" piling cap

What if my light doesn’t turn on after wiring?
In rare cases with single-color warm white caps, polarity may be reversed. Just swap the red and white wires, and it’ll power right up.
