The Lumitec SeaBlaze X3 is a surface-mount underwater LED light that produces 7,500+ lumens at up to 50% lower amp draw than the SeaBlaze X2 it replaces. Released by Lumitec in early 2026, it has become the default underwater lighting upgrade for yachts running out of West Palm Beach. The reasons are practical, not cosmetic.
Brighter output. Lower power draw. A drop-in mounting pattern that matches the X2 hole-for-hole. IP69 sealing under Lumitec’s new DryLock construction. A 5-year warranty. And, for the first time on a SeaBlaze fixture, music sync through the Poco controller system.
This guide walks through what the X3 actually does, how it compares to the X2 it replaces and the competitor lights yacht owners cross-shop, and why DRSA stocks it as a flagship Lumitec product. We’ve been supplying marine lighting since 1988, and the X3 is the underwater fixture we recommend most often for yachts running South Florida waters.
What is the Lumitec SeaBlaze X3?
The Lumitec SeaBlaze X3 is the third-generation flagship in Lumitec’s SeaBlaze surface-mount underwater LED series. It produces 7,500+ lumens, runs on 10–30V DC, uses a solid naval bronze housing with no external driver, and is rated IP69.
It replaces the SeaBlaze X2, which Lumitec discontinued when the X3 launched. The X3 was engineered to be a direct upgrade: same mounting hole pattern, same wiring approach, but a thinner profile, brighter output, and lower amp draw.
Two versions are available: Spectrum RGBW (full-color, programmable) and Dual Color White/Blue. Both ship from DRSA with free Economy shipping in the U.S.
Why yacht owners in West Palm Beach pick the SeaBlaze X3
West Palm Beach is one of the most concentrated yacht markets in the country. Rybovich, Riviera Beach Marina, Palm Harbor Marina, and Sailfish Marina all sit inside a 10-mile stretch. Yachts here run salt water year-round, sit in slips through hurricane season, and are evaluated by their owners, captains, and crews on how they look at night.
Three things drive the X3’s adoption rate in this market.
Output that holds up against South Florida water clarity
Local water can be tannin-stained inshore and brilliantly clear off the inlet. The X3’s 7,500+ lumen output cuts through both. The wide beam spread produces a continuous halo around the hull rather than the spotty pools you get from underpowered fixtures.
Lower power draw means more lights per circuit
On a 60+ ft yacht with 6 to 10 underwater lights, amp draw matters. Up to 50% lower draw than the X2 means an X3 install can put more lights on the same circuit, or pull less from the house bank when running at anchor. Â
Drop-in upgrades from the X2
Most West Palm Beach yachts that already have underwater lights are running X2s. The X3’s identical hole pattern means a refit shop can pull X2s and bolt in X3s without modifying the transom, drilling new holes, or running new wiring. That’s why DRSA sees so many upgrade orders rather than fresh installs.

The X3 wins on lumen output, sealing rating, and music sync. It’s the only fixture in this group with the Poco Light-to-Sound capability. It’s also the only one that drops into existing X2 holes, which matters on every refit.
How the SeaBlaze X3 fits into a full Lumitec lighting system
Underwater lighting is one piece of a complete yacht lighting setup. The X3 sits inside a Lumitec ecosystem that covers navigation, anchor, deck, and interior.
Navigation lights
The Lumitec Surface Mount Navigation Light pairs with the X3 on most yacht refits. It provides clear directional lighting that meets COLREG visibility requirements without the bulk of older fixed-mount nav lights.
Anchor lights
The Lumitec Contour Anchor Light handles 360-degree visibility while at anchor. It’s the standard pairing for yachts that overnight at anchorages around West Palm Beach and the Bahamas.
Poco system integration
The X3’s Light-to-Sound capability runs through the Lumitec Poco 4 controller (sold separately). One Poco can drive the X3 plus compatible deck lights and interior lights, syncing color and brightness across the whole boat. For yachts that entertain at anchor, this is the feature most owners cite as the deciding factor.
Installing the SeaBlaze X3 (and what to expect on a refit)
The X3 is a surface-mount fixture, meaning it bolts to the outside of the hull rather than threading through it. There’s no through-hull penetration, no thermal well to drill, and no external driver box to mount inside the engine room.
The basic install is a 3-wire hookup: power, ground, and signal. The signal wire connects to a Poco controller if you’re running music sync, or to a simple toggle if you’re not.
On an X2-to-X3 upgrade, the install is straightforward: pull the old fixture, swap in the new one, reconnect the existing wiring. Most refit shops budget 30 to 45 minutes per fixture for the swap. On a fresh install, plan for hull layout, holesaw work, and sealing. That’s a half-day to full-day job depending on yacht size.
DRSA recommends professional installation for any first-time install or for owners not comfortable with marine electrical work. We have a network of installers in the West Palm Beach, Stuart, and Fort Lauderdale corridor we can refer you to.
Who the SeaBlaze X3 is for
The X3 is built for yachts in the 35 to 100+ ft range where underwater lighting is part of the boat’s identity. Specific fits we see often at DRSA:
- Sportfish convertibles: Viking, Hatteras, Bertram, Merritt, Spencer, Jarrett Bay (40 to 80 ft)
- Express yachts and motoryachts: Sea Ray, Tiara, Carver, Marlow, Hargrave (40 to 80 ft)
- Mega yachts and explorer yachts: Westport, Hatteras 100, Christensen, custom builds (80+ ft)
- Performance center consoles where the owner wants underwater drama at the dock: Yellowfin, Invincible, SeaVee 390 and up
If you’re running a smaller boat (under 30 ft), Lumitec’s SeaBlaze Quattro or Zambezi Mini are usually a better match. The X3 is overkill for short transoms and small electrical systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Lumitec SeaBlaze X3 is a surface-mount underwater LED light that produces 7,500+ lumens, runs on 10–30V DC, and uses a solid naval bronze housing with IP69 sealing. It’s the third-generation flagship in Lumitec’s SeaBlaze line and replaced the SeaBlaze X2 in early 2026.
No. The SeaBlaze X3 replaced the SeaBlaze X2. The Zambezi is a separate Lumitec product line (Zambezi Mini and Zambezi Quattro) and remains in production for smaller-boat applications.
The X3 produces 7,500+ lumens (up from 6,000 on the X2), draws up to 50% less power, has a 50% thinner profile, adds DryLock sealing technology with IP69 protection, and supports Poco music sync. It uses the same mounting hole pattern as the X2 for easy upgrades.
Yes. Lumitec engineered the X3 with the same mounting hole pattern as the X2. You can pull the X2, swap in the X3, and reconnect the existing wiring without drilling new holes or modifying your transom.
Light-to-Sound is a Lumitec Poco system feature that lets the SeaBlaze X3 pulse and change color in sync with onboard music. It requires a Lumitec Poco 4 controller module, which is sold separately and connects to your audio system.
The SeaBlaze X3 carries a 5-year limited warranty from Lumitec covering manufacturing defects. DRSA handles factory warranty registration on every order.
Yes. The X3 is IP69 rated, the highest sealing standard for marine fixtures. Combined with Lumitec’s DryLock thermal and moisture protection system, it’s built for permanent saltwater submersion
Lumitec rates the X3 at up to 50% lower amp draw than the SeaBlaze X2. Exact draw depends on color mode and brightness setting. Lower draw means more lights per circuit and less load on the house bank when running at anchor.
Yes. The X3 operates on 10–30V DC, which covers virtually every recreational and commercial marine electrical system, including 12V, 24V, and split systems.
The X3 is a surface-mount fixture that bolts to the transom or hull side, so it fits any yacht with adequate transom real estate. Common fits include Viking, Hatteras, Bertram, Merritt, Spencer, Jarrett Bay, Westport, Sea Ray, Tiara, Marlow, and Hargrave.
It depends on yacht length and how much underwater coverage you want. A typical install runs 2 lights on a 35–45 ft yacht, 4 lights on a 45–60 ft yacht, and 6–10 lights on yachts 60 ft and up. DRSA can spec a layout for your specific boat.
Experienced boat owners with marine electrical skills can handle the install. For first-time installs, X2-to-X3 upgrades on larger yachts, or any install that requires drilling the hull, we recommend a professional marine electrician. DRSA can refer installers in the West Palm Beach corridor.
